If you came across this page because you are looking for a martial arts school, please read this first!
Thanks for visiting this web page. You’ve either had experience with this martial art thing, or you are a rookie. Either way, you’re looking for something.
Here are a few helpful suggestions to consider as you investigate your martial arts options.
Check the credentials
You will be giving both time and money to participate in the martial arts. Make sure it is an investment and not a scam.
Check carefully the credentials of the instructor. This Taekwon-Do program at Toledo Martial Arts Center is credentialed by the oldest living
Taekwon-Do Grand Master in the world,
Nam Tae Hi. The Jiu Jitsu program is credentialed by former and current
World Champions in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu,
Saulo and Xande Ribeiro.
There quite simply is no other program in this area that can boast this kind of endorsement. The lineage of either program will guarantee that your
training will be recognized throughout the world. What good would it do to attend a University that is not certified?
Would you like to invest your time and money only to find out that your diploma is worthless?
Beware of the Contract
It should not be demanded that you commit before you even know what you’re getting into. If you enjoy it, if the instruction is good,
if it’s all you thought it would be, they will not be able to keep you away. If it isn’t all of the above, or if circumstances change,
you shouldn’t be locked in.
This is especially important when enrolling children.
Beware of the high pressure “one time only” deals
Most schools love to see the wide-eyed, eager, uneducated prospect walk through their doors. You’re ready to sign on that dotted line,
and to sign a check. But remember that these are sometimes uncharted waters. Go slow at your own pace. If something is offered up front,
it can be offered again later or down the road. A statement like
“If you don’t take advantage of this offer now it will be gone forever”
should raise a serious red flag.
Do your homework
Ask to participate, get the feel of the school. If you’re not comfortable, find a place where you are. If a school does not encourage you to shop
and compare, they must be insecure about something.
If a school has to “badmouth” other programs to make themselves look good, that says something about the character of the person you’re talking with.
Quality programs are not concerned with others.
I hope this is helpful in your quest of finding the right martial arts school for you. I’m sure that you will find what you’re looking for by
avoiding a few hazards along the way. If your questions are not answered by this website, please
